If you already spend part of your day talking to Claude, you’ve probably had this moment: halfway through planning something, you realize you need to switch apps, open your to-do list, and type the same tasks in again. Turning Claude into a real Claude AI task manager fixes that. With TASKn’s connector, Claude can read your task list, add new tasks, and mark things done right inside the conversation.
This guide covers what the connection does, how to set it up in about two minutes, and how to use it without handing your whole day over to a chatbot.
What Does “Connecting TASKn to Claude” Actually Mean?
TASKn exposes an MCP connector. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants securely use an app’s real data and actions, but only after you sign in and approve access.
In plain terms: once connected, when you ask Claude “what’s on my plate today?”, it isn’t guessing or making up a list. It reads your actual TASKn account. When you say “add a task to call the dentist tomorrow,” that task shows up in TASKn on your phone, synced across iPhone and Android like anything else you create.
It’s also not a Claude-only feature. Any app that supports remote MCP with browser sign-in can connect the same way, including developer tools like Cursor and OpenAI’s Codex. Claude just happens to be the simplest setup.
What Claude Can Do Once Connected
Here’s the full list of actions the TASKn connector gives Claude:
- View your task feed: see what’s coming up and what needs attention
- Create a task: add tasks or projects from a sentence
- Update a task: change a title, date, or other details
- Complete a task: check things off without opening the app
- Search your tasks: find that one task you vaguely remember adding last week
- List your projects: see how your work is organized
- List tasks shared with you: catch up on what others have handed you
- See your daily stats: a quick read on how your day is going
That’s a deliberately focused set. It covers the everyday “check, add, update, done” loop, which is where switching apps costs you the most.
How to Set It Up (About 2 Minutes)
The connection is set up inside Claude, on a computer, not inside the TASKn app. Here’s the process:
- Open Claude at claude.ai or in the Claude desktop app.
- Go to Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Fill in two fields:
– Name:TASKn
– Remote MCP server URL:https://mcp.taskn.app/functions/v1/mcp - Click Add, then Connect. You’ll land on a TASKn sign-in screen.
- Sign in with the same Google, Apple, or email login you already use in the app.
- Review what Claude is asking for and click Approve.
That’s it. Start a new chat and ask Claude what’s on your list.
Tip: In the TASKn app, go to Settings → Connect with MCP. It opens the setup page with copy buttons for the server details, so you can grab them on your phone and paste them in later at your computer.
7 Ways to Use Claude as Your Task Manager
The connector is most useful when you stop thinking of it as “a different way to type tasks” and start using it where conversation helps.
1. The morning check-in
Ask: “What’s on my plate today, and what should I start with?” Claude reads your task feed and can talk it through with you: what’s urgent, what can wait, what’s quietly been sitting there for a week.
2. Brain dump to task list
Paste a messy paragraph of everything on your mind and ask Claude to add the real action items to TASKn. You stay in one place, and the tasks land in the app with the rest of your work.
3. Turning a conversation into follow-ups
If you’ve been using Claude to plan a trip, draft a proposal, or work through a problem, finish with: “Add the next steps from this conversation to TASKn.” The plan you just made doesn’t vanish when you close the tab.
4. Finding a lost task
“Did I add something about renewing my passport?” Search beats scrolling, especially once you’re using TASKn’s nested projects and your list has some depth to it.
5. Quick rescheduling
“Move the quarterly report task to Thursday.” Small edits are often faster to say than to tap through.
6. End-of-day wrap-up
“Mark the dentist call and the invoice as done, then show me my stats for today.” A clean close to the day, and a quick nudge to keep your TASKn daily streak going.
7. Checking shared work
“What tasks have been shared with me?” A fast way to see what other people are waiting on you for.
Is It Safe to Give an AI Access to My Tasks?
It’s a fair question, and worth a straight answer.
- You sign in and approve access yourself. TASKn uses standard OAuth sign-in in your browser. Claude is never given your password.
- It only sees your own account. The connector has the same permissions you already have when you’re signed in. Nothing more.
- There’s no API key floating around. Access comes from your explicit sign-in and approval, not a key you have to store somewhere.
- You can disconnect anytime from the connector settings in your AI app. (Managing connected apps from inside TASKn itself isn’t available yet.)
One practical habit: when Claude is about to change something, read what it says it’s doing. AI assistants are good at understanding intent, but “move my meeting to Friday” is only as good as the task it picks.
Does It Work on the Free Plan?
Yes. The connector is available to all TASKn users. The normal plan limits apply whether you add tasks in the app or through Claude:
- Free: up to 50 tasks and 5 active projects
- Pro: $2.99/month or $24.99/year, which removes those limits and unlocks TASKn’s built-in AI task creator
If you hit the free limit while adding tasks through Claude, it’ll tell you, same as the app would.
Claude Connector vs. TASKn’s Built-In AI Task Creator
TASKn also has its own AI task creator (a Pro feature) inside the app. They overlap a little, but they’re built for different moments:
| Claude + TASKn connector | TASKn AI task creator | |
|---|---|---|
| Where you use it | Inside Claude, usually on a computer | Inside the TASKn app, on your phone |
| Best for | Pulling tasks out of a longer conversation; check-ins and edits | Turning one goal into a structured plan with subtasks |
| Plan | All plans (normal task limits apply) | Pro |
Plenty of people will use both: the in-app AI when an idea hits on the go, and Claude when they’re at their desk already deep in a conversation.
Why TASKn Is a Good Home for an AI Task Manager
Connecting Claude to a to-do list only helps if the list itself is good at deciding what matters. That’s where TASKn earns its place:
- Smart priority algorithm that weighs urgency and dates so the important stuff rises to the top
- Deeply nested tasks and projects for breaking big goals into real steps
- Carry-over for unfinished tasks, so nothing silently falls off your list
- Daily streaks to keep the habit going
- Real-time sync between iPhone and Android
Claude handles the conversation. TASKn handles the structure. Together you get a task manager you can talk to that still holds up when you’re away from the chat.
